Friends of the OMD
We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. ~ Martin Luther King Jr. April 1963
We live in an interdependent web, “an inescapable network of mutuality.” We are all in this together.
Our Ohio-Meadville congregations benefit from the collective strength of Unitarian Universalism, local, regional and national. We build our Unitarian Universalist community together. The staff, volunteers, trustees, teams and committees of the Ohio-Meadville District (OMD) work together to offer consultation, training, research, communication, networking and resource development to support our congregations as we build community, nurture souls and help heal our world.
- Last year, Friends of the OMD enabled six of our smaller congregations to begin an intensive three year project to support one another in increasing health, strength and growth. They are now engaged in projects to reach out to and support new members. Friends support enables this project to continue.
- Friends of the OMD helped us obtain a District Growth Consultant, Mark Bernstein, shared with three other districts. He is coaching congregational leaders in our small church project and started a new 3 year growth project for mid-sized congregations in January 2010.
- Continued Friends support enables our Growth Consultant to offer new workshops and webinars to help OMD congregations develop skills for life-changing welcoming and hospitality.
- Funds from Friends enabled the district to help sponsor a Jubilee I anti-racism workshop in Pittsburgh this past December, and join with West Shore congregation in Rocky River, OH to offer a conference on “Transforming Whiteness” in April 2010.
These initiatives and more like them can only continue and grow through the generosity of people like you.
The OMD Resource Development Team invites you to become a Friend of the OMD. You are invited to partner with the District to support our congregations and the future of Unitarian Universalism in the OMD.
Your donations will positively impact our congregations here in the Ohio-Meadville District and strengthen Unitarian Universalism in our region. Your donation works to support all of us as we build for our future.
If you would like to discuss your donation or have any questions about becoming a Friend, the Rev. Joan Van Becelaere, District Executive, would be happy to contact you.
Thank you many times over for your commitment to the strength of Unitarian Universalism in the Ohio-Meadville District. Together, we can build the world we dream of. We are all in this together.
