Leadership Day 2010
Saturday, September 25, 2010, 9 am to 3:30 pm
First UU Church of Columbus, OH

Sponsored by the Ohio-Meadville Leadership Development Group.
If you have ever sailed a boat, you might see some similarities between captaining a crew and leading a UU congregation. For instance:
- Everybody needs to be pointed in the same direction.
- The captain and crew should be healthy and strong.
- You need to adapt to the winds of change to stay on course.
- Financial planning keeps you afloat - and pays for the boat!
Featured leadership workshops are:
Healthy Leaders: How leaders can stay engaged, yet retain their sense of self to keep a congregation focused on its mission. Led by Rev. Joan Van Becelaere, District Executive
Adaptive Leadership: As congregations evolve to face new challenges or move in new directions, leaders need tools to observe what is happening, interpret and intervene to support constructive adaptation to change. Led by Doug Zelinski, Program Consultant for Leadership Development for the Massachusetts Bay/Clara Barton Districts.
Congregational Leadership 101: Pragmatic advice from a panel of experienced congregational presidents with proven leadership skills.
Innovative Stewardship: Best practices for stewardship of time, talent and resources. Demonstration of speed pledging. Led by the OMD Resource Development Team.
